Alex Philp writes short fiction and screenplays. Her short fiction has been published in Griffith Review, The Saturday Paper, Going Down Swinging, Westerly and elsewhere. She won the Rachel Funari Prize for Fiction (2017) and has been awarded a Griffith Review Emerging Voices Prize (2022). She wrote the short film ‘Pools’ (2020, directed by Luisa Martiri), which premiered at Flickerfest (2021) and was also an official selection for Show Me Shorts New Zealand and Cinefest Oz. Alex has completed residencies at Can Serrat (Catalonia) and Varuna, The Writers’ House (NSW). In 2023, she attended the Sidewalk Narrative Lab (Birmingham, Alabama) with Luisa Martiri as a Screen Queensland Stowe Writers’ Lab Fellow. She has a PhD in Creative Writing from Queensland University of Technology.
